Daniel Graves (Dan) Clark, born on November 27, 1943 in Meridian, Mississippi, passed away June 13, 2017 at the age of 73. He was an active and very involved member of Northern Hills United Methodist Church for forty years and served on various boards and committees. Dan was a committed disciple of the life and word of Jesus Christ. Dan's family moved to Austin, Texas in 1947 when he was three, shortly after World War II. He attended Austin Public Schools and excelled in sports. On Oct. 29th, 1960, he began "going steady" with Wanda Munson during their junior year in high school; it was the beginning of a fifty six year love story, set aside and above, and bound in devotion and tenderness. They married on Aug 16, 1963. Dan attended the University of New Mexico on a football scholarship. He returned to Austin after one year to finish college at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State). He graduated with a BA in business and went to work for Hallmark Cards. The family moved to San Antonio in 1966. Their first child, Tammy, was born in 1968 and Randy was born in 1970. Dan went to work for State Farm Insurance Co. in 1970 and was an agent for forty four years, retiring in December 2013. Dan had varied interests and successes. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. As a very accomplished horseman, he received great enjoyment from riding and showing his quarter horses. He spent twenty years as a member of the Guadalupe County Fair Association and the last few years as Rodeo chairman. He truly loved the twenty five years he worked with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. He started in the rodeo feed store, then moved to the horse show committee and Hall of Fame committee. He was honored as a Director Emeritus. Having had children in the program, he became an enthusiastic supporter of the Marion High School FFA chapter for many years. This led to his co-founding of the Barnyard Backers Association. When he had time, he enjoyed playing golf with his brother. Dan was a member of the Marion School Board for eight years, the last two as president. He was also honored as "Marion Man of the Year." Dan contributed many volunteer hours to the Guadalupe Valley Regional Medical Center Foundation and the Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center. Dan's commitment to a Christian life was evident to everyone whoever came in contact with this kind and gentle man. He is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Wanda, one daughter, Tammy Marquart (Roland), one son, Randy Clark; one brother, Buddy Clark (Linda); grandchildren, Colton Campos, Jessica Silva, Lyndsi Marquart, Savannah Clark, and Caroline Clark. Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels from 5;30-8:00pm Monday, June 19, 2017. Funeral service will held at 10:00am Tuesday June 20th, 2017 at Northern Hills United Methodist Church, 3703 North Loop 1604 E San Antonio, TX. 78247
